WE REQUEST THE ACADEMY TO RECONSIDER THE DECISION TO DISQUALIFY PUERTO RICO AS A BONA FIDE COUNTRY ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM CATEGORY.
We believe that films from Puerto Rico fulfill the two requirements
stated in the definition of Rule 14th of the Academy of Motion Pictures
Regulation: A foreign language film is defined as a
feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States of
America with a predominantly non-English dialogue track.
